Enhancing Perth’s Public Transport with Innovative Facade and Finishes
The Metronet Forrestfield-Airport Link is a transformative infrastructure project that improves public transport access between Perth’s eastern suburbs and the airport. Led by the Salini-Impregilo and NRW Joint Venture, the $1.86 billion project provides an 18-minute train journey from the airport to the Perth CBD, revolutionizing transportation in the region.
Constructive PD was awarded a $13 million contract to provide façade cladding, artwork, and finishes for the three new stations—Redcliffe, Airport Central, and Forrestfield. The stations feature innovative designs with a combination of perforated aluminum, solid aluminum, and stainless steel linings that provide both aesthetic appeal and resilience. CPD’s expertise in large-scale infrastructure projects helped ensure the delivery of a visually striking and durable result, contributing to the project’s role in sparking further residential and commercial developments around the stations.
The Metronet Forrestfield-Airport Link provides a vital public transport service, with three new stations serving the eastern suburbs and the airport.
CPD delivered a wide range of finishes, including perforated aluminum panels, solid aluminum cladding, stainless steel linings, and resilient finishes, ensuring the stations were not only functional but architecturally significant.
CPD incorporated bespoke artwork into the façade designs, blending functionality with creative design elements to enhance the public transport experience.
The project has stimulated new residential and commercial developments in the surrounding areas, marking it as a key driver of urban growth in Perth’s eastern suburbs.
The design of the stations required precision and attention to detail, especially with the integration of different materials like perforated aluminum and stainless steel linings.
Meeting the construction timeline for such a large-scale public transport project required seamless coordination and execution.
The materials used had to withstand heavy public use and harsh weather conditions, ensuring long-term performance and aesthetic quality.
