Pioneering Sustainable Construction with Mass Timber Solutions
Building 360, Boola Katitjin at Murdoch University is one of the largest mass timber projects in the Southern Hemisphere. Engaged by Multiplex in 2019 under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) arrangement, CPD played a crucial role in the project’s buildability, logistics, and installation methodology. In 2021, CPD secured the logistics, temporary works, and installation contract to deliver this groundbreaking structure.
Primarily constructed from sustainably sourced Mass Engineered Timber, including Glulam (GLT) and Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), Building 360 is a significant achievement in sustainable building design. The structure, nearing completion, includes over 1,800 timber members, featuring some of the largest beams ever imported into Australia. CPD’s experience in the installation of mass timber structures, combined with our expertise in design, manufacturing, and connection detailing, helped bring this innovative project to life.
Building 360 is a flagship mass timber project, highlighting CPD’s expertise in sustainable construction using GLT and CLT materials.
CPD provided end-to-end logistics management, ensuring the safe delivery and installation of over 1,800 timber members, some of which were the largest ever imported into Australia.
Engaged by Multiplex under ECI, CPD played an essential role in shaping the project’s buildability, installation methodology, and logistical framework.
CPD’s involvement ensured the successful installation of this complex mass timber structure, setting a new benchmark for timber construction in Australia.
Managing the transportation and installation of massive timber beams, some of the largest imported to Australia, required precise planning and execution.
The intricate design and assembly of over 1,800 timber members called for innovative installation techniques to ensure structural integrity.
Achieving a balance between innovative engineering and stringent sustainability standards was key to delivering this landmark project.
